I’m a busy Mum here to help you.
I’m not your”Normal” looking health nut but I am very passionate about healthy food for myself and my family, healthy habits and healthy lifestyle.
Creating healthy habits is probably the hardest thing to incorporate into a family I’m very lucky that my children love been active, but as I did loved a heavy dairy based and process diet. Which was not working for any of us, I would buy low fat everything thinking that would do it but Myself and 1 of the children would put on weight and be tired and sick all the time, the other child couldn’t put on weight was very skinny and couldn’t concentrate at school or to simple instructions. I needed to do something I was killing my children.
As a single mum I don’t have a lot of money
“How was I going to be able to change my children’s life on what I have left at the end of the week for groceries”? “Everyone says how expensive it is to eat healthy what am I going to do?”
I was on a mission I wanted my children to be healthy and happy I put myself at the bottom of the list and gave up everything I did so I would have more for them (I don’t recommend this I will explain later). I learnt how to save money on groceries and I took my time I didn’t need to make these changes over night 1 step at a time, at least I was moving forward 1 step in front of the other. I’ve been able to teach myself how to create super healthy and delicious meals and snacks, I was able to get rid of my hay fever that I’ve had for as long as I can remember, teach my children the importance of Balance and Self Love. A lot of the time with less than $70 for the weekly groceries it wasn’t always easy but I would always get there. I had to completely change my beliefs about foods and fats I had to stop listening to everyone about what I SHOULD be doing because it wasn’t working for us. I had to find the best way of life for my family.
After a lot of trial and error lots of research I was still confused what was best. I borrowed some money and decided to study at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition to become a Holistic Health Coach which I absolutely loved and have gained a amazing knowledge of how food effects us.
I totally understand how life gets away from you when you’re flat out running Miss here and Master there trying to work, run a house and even have some kind of Adult time. It’s hard and something’s always go by the way side a lot of the time it’s our own self and there’s never any time for ME TIME. It’s hard enough to go to the loo without someone needing something let alone cook a healthy meal at 7.30pm. There’s never enough time to cook a fancy meal with fresh vegies..
What if I told you there is, there is enough time for you and enough time for healthy food.
Healthy meals don’t need to take hours to prepare and cook in fact I very rarely have more them 30min to prepare and cook dinner.
I remember what it’s like to be still in my PJ’s at 5pm because the baby needed me all day, what it’s like to go to the toilet with 2 people standing on the other side of the door knocking and knocking and just wanting to see you because they thought you had left. I know what it’s like to have a teenager need to talk to you as you’re trying to get into the shower because its really important even tho it wasn’t important 10min ago when you were trying to talk to them. I understand what its like to look back on your day and wonder what the — have I done all day? Some days there’s just not enough hours in the day for everyone let alone ME or time to cook a healthy meal.
When I say I understand I really and truly mean I understand.
I do however have the most amazing support team, my beautiful parents and the best partner a girl could ever ask for who help me when things get all on top of each other.
I always serve healthy meals and at least 6 nights a week (1 night I bludge off someone else for dinner even I need a break).
I’m far from perfect but I have been through a lot and have made many a mistake and finally have come out the other end with a massive smile on my face and love bursting out my heart.
We all need to cut ourselves some slack being perfect isn’t always the best thing for your family. As so many people say “A HAPPY WIFE/MUMMY HAPPY LIFE” even tho this is said with tongue in cheek it is sooooo true we can’t teach our kids to love themselves if we in turn do not love ourselves.
